Aerocet Inc. prides itself in taking steps forward. This philosophy extends not only to the overall package, but also to the components that make these floats the best and strongest in the field. Our amphibious model shows this dedication and brings it to the customer in a state-of-the-art package.
Main Gear
Our amphibious line starts with our advanced gearbox. The design both minimizes displacement loss through its optimized placement, but also provides easy access to serviceable components. It does not leak. And it does not break.
The quest for the lightest weight continues on into the shock/trailing arm system. Tested to maximum side and vertical loads, this construction provides a simple approach to dampening. Everything is made in-house so you can count on an easy replacement, and our use of 6061 aluminum protects against corrosion and will not rust like steel in salt environments.
The oleo shock system provides simply the best landing characteristics on the market with absolutely no bounce, a soft ride, and the durability to handle even the roughest landings. Once again, all parts are made in-house so replacement is hassle-free.
We utilize the most powerful wheel/brake system available. Using the latest Cleveland main wheel, a large double-puck caliper, and stainless braided brake lines, we gain stopping power that will last (and most importantly, stop) when others will not.
Nose Gear
As with our main gear, our nose gear offers a simple, strong, and lightweight approach to amphibious landing. Employing a composite spring, the nose of the float is supported with a system that minimizes displacement loss and reduces shimmy potential and plunging action.
In retract mode, the gear enters the nose box, which is sealed, accessible, removable, and rebuildable.
Centering is achieved with a simple cam system that is greased through a stainless zerk fitting and sealed by an O-ring cap. The nose forks are removable and use a locking inset to prevent axle rotation.
We make use of our in-house manufactured nose wheel. It presents you with a sealed economical solution, using off-the-shelf bearings and 6061 anodized billet. All with full TSO certification.
Retract System
Providing control over the amphibious line is Aerocet’s own retract system. We made sure this system is perfect to offer you a seamless integration with your aircraft and an operation that is unsurpassed.
Our electric hydraulic pump system is available as a 12 or 24 volt system and is located as far aft as practical to offset nose gear CG. This compact and lightweight assembly contains a built-in pressure relief and internal filters and includes mounting hardware designed and tested to FAR requirements. If this should fail, the emergency hand pump with its compact and lightweight design (2.4 lbs.) and convenient location next to flap handle base will be more than enough to recover from electric pump malfunction.
The hydraulic system uses high-tech rams, manufactured to handle retract loads yet retract the gear as fast as possible. (24 sec. retract time) Also able to set retraction distances and can be completely rebuilt using off-the-shelf seals. Our hydraulic rams are then connected to their standard 5052 aluminum tubing with all AN fittings supplied to the customer. High impact tubing is used in the wheel well and locker bay to guard against debris.
Keeping you informed is our Electric Gear Position and Advisory Unit. With each gear having its own respective position light, a pump light to indicate operating pump, and a dimmer knob for night application, there is no confusion as to where your landing is at. Full audio output notifies the pilot of gear position, particular landing event, and any complications and is adjustably triggered by airspeed. All wiring harnesses, circuit breakers, relays, and terminal blocks are supplied with the package.
